The Canon Extender can be used to increase the focal length of your telephoto lens, with minimal loss of lens performance or image quality. Note that using the Extender decreases your aperture by one stop: for example a lens which is f/4 becomes f/5.6 when the 1.4x Extender is used.
Canon Extenders are compatible with lenses offered by LensesForHire which are listed below.
Note that, when using the 1.4x Extender, autofocus is only possible on lenses with a maximum aperture of f/4 or better (f/5.6 or better for 1D-series cameras). With slower lenses the Extender will still fit, and it will still increase your focal length, but you'll have to focus manually.
This Mk III Extender offers slightly improved optics compared to the Mk II version, leading to better sharpness and contrast. When used with a Mk II IS telephoto lens, it promises faster and more accurate autofocus too.
COMPATIBILITY NOTE: If you hire an Extender, please ensure it is compatible with the lens you want to use it with. We can't accept any responsibility if it isn't. The complete list of our lenses which are compatible is below. If you're not sure whether your lens is compatible, please ask. We don't bite.
